About Karen

Karen

Hi, I’m Karen and while I have an extensive background in estate planning, wills, trust administration, marketing and investment management, I’ve also sat on two different Boards of Directors and was an active member of the Rotary Club and Estate Planning Council. I have always enjoyed entertaining and preparing delicious meals.  That’s how I would unwind after a long day at work and horrendous commute.  That…and puttzing around in the garden for a few moments of solitude to collect my thoughts and “switch gears”.

Home – where life slows down and worries are checked at the door.

Casseroles and cookies have always been plentiful and homemade. The ingredients and directions, written on cards and scraps of paper or book-marked in treasured cookbooks command a shelf of their own in the pantry.  This is where my mother’s 1943 Fannie Farmer Cookbook sits with its’ pages yellowed and splashed with bits of melted butter that once dripped from her spatula.

What I don’t enjoy is spending long hours in the kitchen or trying to follow intricate recipes that look great in pictures in gourmet magazines.  You know what I mean.  I like shortcuts.  I like great meal ideas that can be prepared in a reasonable amount of time…and taste absolutely delicious.  A comment that fills me with smiles is “…can we have this again tomorrow?”

Over The Years… my interests have been quite varied from downhill skiing, cross country skiing, racket ball, tennis, racing my 1965 Porsche 911 on tracks all over the US…to gardening and being part of the “pit crew” for my daughter’s many golf tournaments around the country.

And, there was a time not too long ago when I could put an estate plan together, manage trustee duties, settle an estate, bring in new trust and investment business, organize estate planning lectures, market attorneys, organize a golf tournament with proceeds benefiting charity, play 18 holes of golf in the morning followed by tennis that afternoon and paint planets, stars and the midnight sky on my daughter’s bedroom ceiling.

So…at the end of a hectic day at work, coming home from a trip or entertaining – it all comes down to the simple joy of comfort food…the perfect back drop to reflect on what’s been going on in our lives and what’s around the corner.

Make something amazing today!

Skål,

Karen
